Strategic Brand Designer

  • Hybrid
    • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
  • €65,000 - €80,000 per year
  • Commercial

Our brand is good. It needs one person to own it end to end and make it great.

Job description

Right now the design and brand system is partial. Pieces exist, but they are scattered and inconsistent, and as we grow into a wider ecosystem of sub-brands — events, podcasts, publications, and more — that gap only widens. We want one owner to consolidate it, run it company-wide, and lift the brand from there.

This is a builder's seat, not a caretaker's. You own the design system and the brand system that sits on top of it. You set the direction, and you do the work.

The honest part about AI

We are a creative team. We are also serious about AI. Those two things are not in tension here.

We use AI to take the important-but-repetitive production work off the table, so the energy on this team goes to the work that actually lifts the brand. This isn't just about using AI in your own workflow — it's about building the frameworks and guardrails that let the rest of the company create on-brand, high-quality visual content too. If you see AI as a threat to craft, this is not your role. If you see it as the thing that frees you up to do your best creative work — and want to bring others along with you — keep reading.

What you own

  • The design system, company-wide. One source of truth, consistently applied.

  • The brand system that sits on top of it. You protect it and you evolve it.

  • Brand direction on our website and across our growing ecosystem of sub-brands. The look, the feel, the visual language.

  • The overarching digital design strategy — website, ads, video, and lead generation.

  • Art direction for brand assets. Leading photo shoots and owning the creative direction for our own stock photography.

  • AI in the production flow. You evaluate tools, build them into how the team works, and create the frameworks that let others use them independently and on-brand.

This is a genuine 50/50 role. Half strategic brand direction, half hands-on production. Both, for real.

First projects

  • Consolidate the partial design and brand system into something coherent that scales.

  • Own the brand design of our website and widen the visual language.

  • Lead the creation of our own brand assets, including directing photo shoots and giving the design direction.

  • Build AI into the production flows so the busy work gets done fast, the craft gets the attention, and the wider team has clear guardrails to create on their own.

Job requirements

Who you are

  • You balance both sides: strong creative craft and real business sense. Rare, and exactly what we are hiring for.

  • You think in systems. You see the whole and you keep it consistent.

  • You roll up your sleeves. Direction is not enough. You make the work.

  • You are AI-forward in how you produce, not just in how you talk about it — curious about new tools, not cautious.

  • You have depth in brand and visual design, and the taste to back it.

  • You're a confident presenter, comfortable standing in front of the whole company and making design exciting.

  • You're persuasive and articulate when explaining design value to non-designers, including executive leadership.

  • Proactive and self-motivated, comfortable navigating ambiguity.

  • Collaborative by nature, but able to make firm decisions when it counts.

What you bring

  • 5–8+ years of professional design experience with demonstrable strategic impact.

  • A strong portfolio that shows both big-picture thinking and execution quality.

  • A proven track record of building design systems from scratch.

  • History of influencing design decisions at a senior stakeholder level.

  • Experience in a SaaS, tech, or EdTech environment is a plus.

  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and related tools.

  • A solid grasp of UX/UI principles and methodologies.

  • Hands-on experience with AI design tools — you've actually used them in your workflow, not just read about them.

  • Ability to create strategic frameworks, style guides, and pattern libraries.

  • A knack for making complex tools accessible to non-designers.

What we offer you

  • A good salary that fits your role and experience, range 65K - 80K a year including holiday allowence.

  • Flexible working hours.

  • Hybrid working (3 days at the office / 2 days at home).

  • 25 holidays + an extra day off on your birthday.

  • A 3% pension contribution paid by Studytube via A.S.R.

  • A fully equipped gym at the office — work out before or after work and skip the trip to Basic-Fit.

  • €1,000 L&D budget per year, of which 50% can go towards wellbeing or your home-office setup.

  • In-company training via our own Studytube Academy: LevelUp.

  • A beautiful office in the Houthavens with a view over the IJ.

  • A company laptop (MacBook Air) + €10 allowance for using your own phone.

  • For a small contribution: a fully catered lunch with a choice of a hot meal, sandwiches or salad bar when you're at the office.

  • The nicest colleagues, with a team outing every quarter and an annual company party.
